Rebecca O’Brien Taylor – Principal
Rebecca O’Brien Taylor started her ballet journey under the influence of Mairead Langan, principal of the Metropolitan School of Dance. Her love for ballet began at just four years of age. Rebecca completed all her ballet and vocational examinations with Distinction over her 20 years dancing in the school. During this time went on to complete her Ballet Teacher Training through the Royal Academy of Dance in London.
After she qualified and registered as a Royal Academy of Dance teacher in 2011, she has since worked for the Metropolitan School of Dance and also spent many years abroad teaching in renowned ballet schools across the UAE and Australia.
Rebecca’s passion to bring the joy of ballet to children with additional needs, prompted her to continue her studies in the area of Childcare. Now with her Special Needs Qualification and her RAD Qualification in Ballet, she offers “Free 2 Be Me Dance” classes to children and young adults with additional needs.
Kate O’Brien – Teacher
Kate O’Brien qualified as a Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Teacher in 2016 under the influence of Mairead Langan from the Metropolitan School of Dance. She started dancing at just 2 years old and never looked back. At 5 Kate knew that’s what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. Kate danced all the away up to Solo Seal getting distinctions in all her ballet and vocational level examinations.
Kate preformed in many shows over her years dancing in the MPSD, which she played principal roles such as Cinderella and The Little Princess. She continues to teach here today.
Kate has a great deal of experience teaching both children and adults since 2012 and is very excited to be joining the Dublin City Ballet School teaching team.
